Written by the multi-award winning Jonathan Harvey (Gimme Gimme Gimme, Coronation Street, Beautiful Thing) and directed by Nikolai Foster (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, The Sound of Music), the story follows Paul as he moves from his home in Merseyside to London and throws himself into the club scene where Lily comes to sarcastic, sweary life, quickly becoming fearless cult heroine who charmed and terrified everyone she met.
The cast includes Danny Beard (winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK), another tick in the box for a show to remember. They've delighted us in TV's Hollyoaks, The Traitors: Uncloaked, and Celebrity Big Brother, as well as stage shows like Sleeping Beauty and The Lightning Thief – The Percy Jackson Musical.
Paul O'Grady gave his permission for this comedy drag extravaganza before he passed away, apparently thrilled to bits the script would be written by such a good writer. The story that emerged, about a working-class boy with a sharp tongue who soared to success, showcases Lily in all her glory, a surprising national treasure and entertainment's best-loved 'blonde bombsite'.
