In Pieces description
In Pieces is a contemporary musical by Joey Contreras about six people and the relationships that shape them, including the ones that do not last.
The story unfolds across three chapters of its characters' lives. Friends, family members and former partners cross paths again, and old wounds and unresolved feelings come back to the surface. At the centre is a single question: can they find a way to live with both the happiness and the hurt of the past? A pop-influenced score follows the six characters' romantic journeys through love, loss and self-discovery.
The run at The Other Palace is the world premiere of the first full production of In Pieces. The show built its following before reaching this stage, through sold-out concerts, including at The Other Palace and at Joe's Pub in New York, and a staged concert version in 2026. A filmed concert released online was bought 20,000 times in 151 countries, and a deluxe highlights album on Broadway Records has passed 70 million streams. The musical has also been licensed for productions internationally.
In Pieces is written and composed by Joey Contreras, a finalist for the Fred Ebb Award and the Jonathan Larson Grant, whose other musicals include Forget Me Not, Robby Green Is All Grown Up and Heartbreakers in Hell. He has also composed for the Walt Disney Company and The 5th Avenue Theatre. Martha Geelan returns to direct. Her directing credits include Jane, Babies at The Other Palace and Agatha at the Pleasance Theatre, and as associate director she has worked on The Producers and Fiddler on the Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory and The Shark is Broken at the Ambassadors Theatre. Choreography is by Sam Wilson Freeman, orchestrations are by Joey Contreras and Brian Russell Carey, who is also music supervisor, and casting is by Harry Blumenau. The production is presented by Regular People and RJG Productions. The cast is yet to be announced.
