Freaky Friday

Freaky Friday

London Theatre to be announced

Freaky Friday description

You loved the movie. Now there's an update. It's Freaky Friday on stage.

The writers of Next to Normal and If/Then have collaborated with the writers of Heathers the Musical to bring us Freaky Friday, a story that has captivated audiences for fifty years and counting.

The 2003 movie was written by Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, and in turn based on the 1972 book of the same name by Mary Rodgers. Now a vivid, vibrant musical, it re-imagines the classic story of a mum and daughter who swap bodies. A contemporary score adds to the magic to create big family fun.

Katherine and Ellie have just one day to put things right, and they spend the day literally in each other's shoes. They soon start to appreciate each other's struggles and problems, learn to be more tolerant, accept themselves, and finally understand that the bonds that join a mother and daughter are all about love and respect.

Book is by Bridget Carpenter, Music by Tom Kitt and Lyrics by Brian Yorkey. The fun is directed by Andy Fickman and produced by Paul Taylor-Mills.

Will it end up in the West End? We think it's a deserving candidate for a transfer! If so, you can grab your Freaky Friday tickets here.
