David Bowie: You're Not Alone is a large-scale immersive experience that presents Bowie as its sole narrator and voice. Drawing on thousands of hours of rare and unreleased material from the David Bowie Archive, it traces his creative life from Space Oddity through to Blackstar.
The experience is organised thematically rather than chronologically, moving through subjects including theatricality, spirituality, songwriting and the transformative power of creativity. Landmark performances sit alongside photographs, drawings and personal materials, building a self-portrait assembled entirely from Bowie's own performances and reflections.
A newly created work rather than a revival, it surrounds audiences on every side with floor-to-ceiling projection and immersive sound in a purpose-built space. Much of the archive material has rarely, if ever, been seen in public.
David Bowie: You're Not Alone is written and directed by Mark Grimmer and Tom Wexler, and produced by Lightroom with 59 Studio. Grimmer previously directed the V&A's landmark David Bowie Is exhibition. Sound design is by Gareth Fry, winner of both Olivier and Tony Awards.
