Coyote Ugly The Musical description
The Julia Roberts movie was a smash hit. Now Coyote Ugly is taking to the stage in a major new musical set to open in 2027.
Based on the 2000 hit movie Coyote Ugly, the plot explores Elizabeth Gilbert's 1997 GQ article, The Muse of the Coyote Ugly Saloon, revealing her real-life experiences as a bartender at the famous New York city pub. The movie took more than $113 million at the Box Office, a brilliant basis for a barn-storming new musical theatre show.
The fun is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, and the music comes from the multi award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, who also worked on the film back in 2000. The producers are Jamie Wilson Productions (Just For One Day, The Devil Wears Prada) and Nederlander Studios.
Iconic songs from the movie include Can't Fight The Moonlight, Please Remember, The Right Kind of Wrong and But I Do Love You, and there are some new original songs as well. Respected screenwriter Gina Wendkos (The Princess Diaries 1 & 2) is writing the book with the Olivier winning writer Vikki Stone (Caroline, Hey Duggee).
