The producers of SIX have released the musical's first Korean-language studio album worldwide, sung by six of the Queens who opened the show in Seoul, and ahead of a second Korean season this December.
The producers of SIX have released the musical's first Korean-language studio album, out worldwide from 10am BST this morning - 6pm in Seoul - on 6 Music, the show's in-house label. It is the second time this year that the Queendom has been heard in a language other than English on an official release, and the first time a whole album has been made in one.
The Spanish company got there first, after a fashion. Earlier this year the original Madrid cast recorded an Ex-Wives / SIX mash-up, the first time their voices had been heard on an official recording, ahead of that production's premiere at the Teatro Gran Vía on 17 September 2026.
Six performers from the original Korean company sing the new record: Sonnet Son, Jiwoo Kim, Hyena Park, Hyunsun Choi, Ryeowon Kim and Juhye Yoo. It is sung in Korean throughout and cut as a pop album rather than a theatre cast recording, with a Korean translation that the producers say carries over the wit of the original.
The album is produced by Joe Beighton, Tom Curran, Sam Featherstone, Toby Marlow, Lucy Moss and Katy Richardson. The band is Eunyoung Kim as music director, with Jisoo Chae on keyboard, Dasom Wi on drums, Jihye Lee on guitar and Seungah Hong on bass.
Out alongside it is an official music video for the Korean Ex-Wives, the number that opens the show and introduces all six Queens in turn.
The video is also on YouTube, and the album can be streamed on Spotify as well as the other major services.
The recordings have done well for a show that began as a student production at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017 and has since won more than 35 international awards, among them the 2022 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design. The original SIX the Musical (UK Studio Cast Recording) was certified Platinum this year; the Broadway album, SIX: Live on Opening Night, was nominated for the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album and reached number one on the Billboard Cast Album chart. The producers put the total listens across the catalogue at more than 5.5 billion.
The album arrives ahead of a second Korean-language season, which opens on 15 December 2026 at the HONGIK DAEHANGNO Art Center, Grand Theatre in Seoul and runs until 1 March 2027. The first Korean production, which premiered in 2023, was both the show's first in Asia and its first official staging in a language other than English.
The 2026-27 company is twelve strong and pairs returning Queens with new ones: Sonnet Son and Boram Jang as Catherine of Aragon; Jiwoo Kim and Sujeong Bae as Anne Boleyn; Boram Lee and JaeAh Han as Jane Seymour; Jisun Kim and Hyunsun Choi as Anna of Cleves; Ryeowon Kim and Hyojung as Katherine Howard; and Juhye Yoo and Daon Joo as Catherine Parr.
Seoul is one stop on a crowded map. The new Spanish-language production has just opened in Madrid, the show has returned to Australia, a twelve-week engagement in China begins in October, and there are performances at the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg in May 2027. On Broadway it is into a sixth year at the Lena Horne Theatre.
In London, SIX is booking at the Vaudeville Theatre until November 2027.
