Sydney will be its third city. The musical is still running at the Savoy Theatre in London, where it began a second year with a new West End company, and it opens on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in spring 2027, several months ahead of the Australian premiere.
The creative names on the Sydney artwork are the London ones: music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, a book by Jessica Swale and direction by Luke Sheppard. The show is drawn from Michael Bond's Paddington books, and its story takes its cue from the 2014 STUDIOCANAL film.
It travels with a heavy awards haul. In 2026 the London production won seven Olivier Awards, Best New Musical among them, plus nine WhatsOnStage Awards and Best New Musical at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards. Sheppard was named Best Director at both the Oliviers and the WhatsOnStage Awards.

Casting for Australia has started. Submissions are open for the adult roles and for the onstage performer who plays Paddington, closing on Thursday 29 October 2026. Tickets are not on sale yet; the Australian production's website is running a waitlist for priority access when they are released.
