Louisa Lytton and James Alexandrou set to reunite on stage in Casserole at Playhouse East

The venue confirmed the pairing on its Instagram account on Wednesday 14 October. The run is scheduled from 24 November to 19 December 2026, with performances at 7.30pm. Alexandrou is also one of the play's three writers, alongside Kate Kelly Flood and Dominic Morgan.

Viewers will know Lytton as Ruby Allen. Alexandrou played Martin Fowler for more than ten years, having joined the soap as a child.

Billed as a dark comedy, the one-act play turns on grief. Kate is sure her late mother is sending her signs and wants her partner Dom, who believes in none of it, to help her decode them, only to catch him eating the most telling sign of all: the last casserole her mother ever cooked. What follows asks whether two people who love each other can survive such opposite views of what comes after death.

It has been around before. Casserole was developed over five years of improvised workshops at Actors East, the East London acting studio from which Playhouse East itself grew. It has played the Arcola Theatre, collected three Off West End Award nominations and, by the venue's account, sold out its last run.

Playhouse East sits at 258 Kingsland Road in Haggerston. Alexandrou is its artistic director, and the venue is also hosting Cheryl Prince's AWAKEN this autumn.

Tickets are on sale now from £15 through Playhouse East.
