Karen Hauer and Natalie Anderson will share Lina Lamont on the UK and Ireland tour of Singin' in the Rain, which opens in Bromley in January 2027 and settles at Sadler's Wells for a month the following summer.
Karen Hauer and Natalie Anderson will alternate as Lina Lamont in Singin' in the Rain when the Chichester Festival Theatre, Stage Entertainment and Sheffield Theatres staging goes out across the UK and Ireland, with Jonathan Church Theatre Productions and Tilted confirming the company today.
Grant Almirall takes Don Lockwood, Nicole-Lily Baisden is Kathy Selden and Matthew Maddison plays Cosmo Brown. Wendi Peters joins them as Dora Bailey, and the producers have been specific about her dates: she is scheduled through to Saturday 3 July 2027, with the role recast for the final six engagements.
The touring dates follow a Christmas season at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, which runs from 26 November 2026 - 16 January 2027. The tour proper opens at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from 28 January - 6 February 2027, and its longest stop is a summer month at Sadler's Wells, 2 June - 3 July 2027.
Anderson is known to television audiences as Alicia Metcalfe in ITV's Emmerdale, with further screen credits including Danielle Silverton in Coronation Street, Claire in Netflix's Fool Me Once and Stella Davenport in The Royal. On stage she has played Lauren in the UK tour of Fat Friends the Musical and Nessarose in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria.
Hauer arrives from a different direction. A Latin specialist and World Mambo Champion, she was the longest-serving female professional dancer on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, and her theatre work includes Mavis in the UK tour of Stepping Out, Speakeasy, Firedance, Firedance Reignite, and the original Broadway cast and international tours of Burn the Floor.
Almirall has played Don Lockwood before, in several international stagings of the show, and his credits also take in Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, Ken in Dalliances, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Boys in the Photograph, CATS, Chicago, Hairspray and RENT. Baisden's stage work includes Dale Tremont in the UK tour of Top Hat, Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street at Sadler's Wells and on tour, Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes at the Barbican, Nabulungi in The Book of Mormon in the West End and on the UK and international tour, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre. Maddison returns to Cosmo Brown having toured China with the production; his other credits include Hello, Dolly!, A Christmas Carol and South Pacific.
Peters is best known as Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street and as Cook Jenkins in CBBC's Hetty Feather. Her theatre credits include Mother Superior in the UK and Ireland tour of Sister Act the Musical, Diane in the European premiere of You Are Here at the Southwark Playhouse, Madame Latour in the national tour of John Cleese's Bang Bang, Mrs Baskin in the West End premiere of Big The Musical at the Dominion Theatre, and national tours of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, White Christmas, Quartet, Oh, What A Lovely War! and Rutherford & Son.
The company is completed by Charlie Bishop, Grace Chan, Ross Chisari, Stan Doughty, Barry Drummond, William Elijah-Lewis, Maria Garrett, Alyn Hawke, Megan Jade-Johnson, Ellis Linford-Pill, Jeremy Lloyd, Bronte Macmillan, Chloe Malek, Greta McKinnon, Melissa Mese, Ben Middleton, Grace May Parry, Roan Pronk, Elly Shaw, Jack Skelton and Catrin Thomas.
The show is a 1920s Hollywood story about a silent-picture couple whose careers wobble the moment sound arrives, and it keeps the MGM score intact: Good Morning, Make 'em Laugh and the title number, the last of which accounts for the 14,000 litres of water the production puts on stage.
Jonathan Church directs, with choreography by Andrew Wright and additional choreography by Jayne Elster. Set and costume design is by Simon Higlett, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Gareth Owen and video by Ian Galloway, with musical supervision by Robert Scott and orchestrations by Larry Blank. The team also includes associate director Brendan Cull, associate choreographer Kelly Ewins, associate costume designer Karen Large, original fight direction by Malcolm Ranson and casting director Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting. The screenplay is by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed.
