Full cast and band announced for Hamlet Hail to the Thief at the Barbican

Artwork for Hamlet Hail to the Thief at the Barbican Theatre Samuel Blenkin returns as Hamlet in the London premiere of Hamlet Hail to the Thief, and the full company of fourteen actors and ten musicians is now confirmed.

The full cast and band have been announced for Hamlet Hail to the Thief, which comes to the Barbican Theatre from 31 October 2026 to 23 January 2027. Samuel Blenkin returns as Hamlet, with Ami Tredrea as Ophelia, Paul Hilton as Claudius and the Ghost, Claudia Harrison as Gertrude, Alby Baldwin as Horatio and Brandon Grace as Laertes.

They are joined by Merryl Ansah, Miles Barrow, Halim Diwani, Gavin James, Felipe Pacheco, Marienella Phillips, Nicolas Tennant and Romaya Weaver.

The band is Tom Brady, Ed Begley, Jenny Clifford, Joe Downard, Shane Forbes, Meg Hill, Tom Knowles, Adam Martin, Emilio Moreno Arias and Josephina Ortiz Lewis. The music is played live, on stage, by musicians and actors together rather than from a pit.

The production sets Shakespeare’s play against Radiohead’s 2003 album Hail to the Thief, reworked for the stage by Thom Yorke, who provides the orchestrations. It is adapted by Christine Jones with Steven Hoggett, and the pair direct together.

This is the London premiere. The production was first seen in Manchester and Stratford-upon-Avon, where it sold out, and it arrives at the Barbican for a run of nearly three months.

It is produced by ATC Music Group, Vivek J. Tiwary for TEG+ and Nate Koch.

Hamlet Hail to the Thief runs at the Barbican Theatre from Saturday 31 October 2026 to Saturday 23 January 2027. Tickets are on sale.
