Production photographs of Skylar Astin and Sarah Hyland in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club have been released, the first look at the pair in the roles they are playing on their West End debuts.
The first pictures of the new company are out, and they start where the show does – with the Emcee. Skylar Astin is caught mid-grin in a cream corset and a paper party hat, a black glove pointing at something off to the side. Another frame has him bent forward under a gold helmet and ropes of pearls, his face painted black and white. Between the two you get the range the part asks for.
Sarah Hyland’s Sally Bowles takes the other half of the set. One image puts her alone on a dark stage in an oversized grey suit, arms thrown wide and mouth open. Another finds her sprawled on the boards beside Baker Mukasa’s Clifford Bradshaw, a bottle at her elbow and both of them laughing. The photographs are by Marc Brenner.
Both performers are making their West End debuts in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, and both have a finish date. Skylar Astin plays his last performance on Saturday 12 December 2026. Sarah Hyland plays hers on Saturday 23 January 2027. The full company was listed when their casting was announced.
Around them, Ruthie Henshall plays Fraulein Schneider, Robert Hands plays Herr Schultz, Ronan Burns is Ernst Ludwig and Lindsay Atherton is Fraulein Kost/Fritzie, with Baker Mukasa as Clifford Bradshaw.
Rebecca Frecknall directs. Set and costume design are by Tom Scutt, with choreography by Julia Cheng, musical supervision by Jennifer Whyte and musical direction by Ben van Tienen. Lighting design is by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Nick Lidster, wigs and hair design by Sam Cox and make-up design by Guy Common. Stuart Burt is casting director, Jordan Fein the original associate director and prologue director, and Angus MacRae the prologue composer. The production is by ATG Productions and Underbelly.
The staging has now passed its 1,900th performance, making it the longest running production of Cabaret in West End history. This year marks the musical’s 60th anniversary – it opened on Broadway on 20 November 1966 – and the fifth for this version, which opened in the West End on 15 November 2021.
Cabaret is booking at the Kit Kat Club until Saturday 18 September 2027.
