Born With Teeth, Liz Duffy Adams' play about Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare, comes to the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 12 February - 3 April 2027, following its sold-out West End run for the RSC in 2025.
Daniel Evans, the RSC's co-artistic director, directs again, and the production is a co-production with Playful Productions and Grain Of Sand Productions. It runs for around 90 minutes with no interval. Casting has not been announced.
The play puts the two writers on opposite sides of a table in a pub's back room, over three secret meetings. Marlowe is the one with the reputation: a celebrated playwright, a notorious freethinker and a spy for the Crown. Shakespeare is still a working actor with ambitions as a dramatist, trying to find his own voice. Rivalry and suspicion push the pair into collaborating, and each has the power to ruin the other.
Joanna Scotcher designs set and costumes, with lighting by Neil Austin, sound by George Dennis, movement direction by Ira Mandela Siobhan and casting by Charlotte Sutton CDG.
Priority booking opens on Monday 5 October 2026 and public booking on Wednesday 21 October. The run is one of seven productions in the RSC's 2027 Stratford season.
