Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World: Gaia makes its open air debut at Regent's Park this September

Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World: Gaia Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced that Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World 2026: Gaia will make its open air debut on 13 September 2026 – a one-night-only, eco-themed edition of the world's most gloriously unruly pageant.

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced that Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World 2026: Gaia will make its open air debut on 13 September 2026 at 6pm. The world's most gloriously unruly pageant returns for its 16th earthly incarnation with a spectacular, one-night-only celebration of the planet we call home.

Taking its name from the late chemist James Lovelock's famous hypothesis, Gaia celebrates the world as a living organism in which planet and passengers are interconnected and interdependent. Against a backdrop of ecological gloom, it promises a joyous, defiant riot of colour and creativity.

Contestants take to the stage in creative interpretations of the theme across three rounds – daywear, swimwear and evening wear – each judged, à la Crufts, on poise, personality and originality by a distinguished panel.

Sculptor Andrew Logan has hosted the fabulously anarchic beauty pageant since 1972, attracting trailblazing creatives including Grayson Perry, Divine, Leigh Bowery, Derek Jarman and Zandra Rhodes, and establishing the event as a pioneering celebration of British Queer Culture. This year's edition asks who will grace the open-air stage with their earthly presence.

Tickets for Alternative Miss World 2026: Gaia go on sale at 2pm on Thursday 23 July.
