A Midsummer Night's Dream description

See Shakespeare's magical A Midsummer Night's Dream out in the open air!

This popular Shakespeare comedy is set in an enchanted forest. There are several plots on the go throughout the play, one of which which involves four young Athenians who flee into the woods to escape social constraints, another following six amateur actors rehearsing a play to perform before a wedding. Mischievous fairies and powerful love potions, a complicated love triangle and themes of passion, transformation, misunderstandings and magic make it special. Together the characters Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius, Bottom, the fairy king and queen, a band of actors rehearsing a play, and more deliver a classic Shakespearean twist.

Considering this play was written in the 1590s and first staged in 1600, it's amazing to know it's as popular as ever. The rhythm of Shakespeare's writing, the humour, the mischief the the twisty-turny sub-plots have the same appeal as ever. Whether this is your first Shakespeare play or you're a seasoned fan, you can expect a totally delightful experience.

This gorgeous new production is directed by Atri Banerjee (The Glass Menagerie, Julius Caesar), with folk-inspired music composed by Maimuna Memon (Portia Coughlan, The Grapes of Wrath). We have set Designer Naomi Dawson, Movement Director Anjali Mehra, Composer Maimuna Memon, and Costume Designer Tomás Palmer on board. The team is completed by Joshua Pharo, Lighting Designer, Max Pappenheim, Sound Designer, and Casting Director Jacob Sparrow.

A Midsummer Night's Dream tickets whisk you away to a brilliant play with immersive staging that lets you move with the cast through a gorgeous forest-like setting. Unforgettable!
