Wayne McGregor: Alchemies - Royal Ballet and Opera description
Wayne McGregor: Alchemies showcases one man's extraordinary creativity.
Yugen is a lyrical response to Leonard Bernstein's lush Chichester Psalms. Untitled, 2023, is his dazzling artistic collaboration with Carmen Herrera. Then there's the world premiere of a brand new ballet by Sir Wayne McGregor.
Three awe-inspiring works await you with Wayne McGregor: Alchemies. As Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet Sir McGregor's work always pushes the boundaries of ballet, influenced by everything from literature to fine art, science and technology.
Yugen celebrates the US musician Leonard Bernstein. The work was created for The Royal Ballet's Bernstein Centenary celebrations in 2018, collaborating with artist Edmund de Waal, fashion designer Shirin Guild and lighting designer Lucy Carter, described as 'contemplative and life-affirming'. Untitled, 2023 was inspired by the minimalist artist Carmen Herrera, for which she created her first and only designs for the stage. Anna Thorvaldsdottir's epic score, Lucy Carter's remarkable lighting and unique costume design by Burberry make it extraordinary. And the third ballet is completely new, a world premiere set to music by Bushra El-Turk with more amazing lighting from Carter.
