Waitress description
A legendary creative team makes the Waitress West End Musical special.
Add the multi award-winning West End star Carrie Hope Fletcher to the list in the leading role, and you can see why the UK tour of the Waitress musical is set to be a sell-out.
In a story based on the 2007 hit movie of the same name, written and directed by Adrienne Shelly and starring Keri Russell, you'll meet the small town waitress and genius pie-baker Jenna Hunterson, stuck in a dead end relationship with an abusive husband. Life is a drag until, unexpectedly pregnant, she begins an affair with her handsome, young, married gynaecologist. Will she bring her dreams of owning a pie shop to reality and find her own recipe for happiness? As it turns out, a mix of laughter, love, and friendship might provide the solution.
In summer 2015, when it debuted in Cambridge, USA, Waitress was a huge hit. It arrived on Broadway in spring 2016 thanks to an awesome all-female creative team, delighting audiences and eventually nominated for four Tonys, including Best Musical.
This time around the star of the tour is Carrie Hope-Fletcher (Calamity Jane, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella, Heathers, Les Misérables), who plays Jenna. Music and lyrics come from the six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, and a book comes from the respected screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I am Sam). The production is directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland, Jagged Little Pill), with choreography by Lorin Latarro.
Heart-warming themes of courage and strength, friendship, motherhood and the magic of a perfect pie make Waitress tickets a beautiful West End musical experience.
