To Sir, With Love description

In London for just two performances, don't miss Lulu in To Sir, With Love – A New Musical.

Grammy-nominated British music legend Lulu's career was launched in the 1967 movie To Sir, With Love, starring Sidney Poitier and directed by James Clavell, itself based on the 1959 memoir by E. R. Braithwaite. Now there's a brand new one-day-only, concert version of To Sir, With Love – A New Musical on stage at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, a unique event that promises to be a highlight of the 2025 theatre calendar.

This autobiographical story, which is just as relevant in the 21st century as it was in the 20th, follows the idealistic young teacher Rick Braithwaite. He might be a Cambridge-educated engineer and former RAF fighter pilot, but he is forced to fight constant prejudice. He never gives in, treating his pupils as young adults-in-the-making who need to know how to survive in the outside world. Ultimately, he doesn't just prepare them for exams, he prepares them for life, accompanied by the magical title tune To Sir, with Love and told alongside a wonderful original score.

This uplifting, inspiring story stars Lulu together with a star-studded cast including the US stage and TV star Wayne Brady (How I Met Your Mother, Moulin Rouge!). The show is directed by Sheldon Epps. Musical direction comes from Kenny Seymour, with music and lyrics from John Farrar and Kara DioGuardi. Casting by Debbie O'Brien, musical arrangements by Eve Nelson, musical supervision and orchestration from Joseph Joubert, choreography from Edgar Godineaux and dramaturgy by Shereen Jasmin Phillips complete the picture.

Walk this way for To Sir, With Love tickets, a beautiful one-day-only West End concert featuring marvellous music, poignant acting and a powerful, meaningful plot. There are only two performances, so book early!
