The Rise and Fall Of Little Voice description

Experience the beloved classic The Rise and Fall Of Little Voice at the National Theatre.

The Rise and Fall Of Little Voice is funny. It's also a heartbreaker of a story, one of the nation's best-loved contemporary dramas. We meet Little Voice, nicknamed LV, who spends most of her time in her small bedroom at home up north, singing tunes from her dead dad's record collection. She has a remarkable voice, delivering perfect renditions of songs by geniuses like Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Billie Holiday, and when her mums new boyfriend Ray hears her singing, he senses a quick buck. Little Voice isn't interested in the spotlight, but will her voice finally be heard?

Francesca Mills (Silent Witness, Hamlet, The Witcher: Blood Origin) plays the lead role in this major new production of Jim Cartwright’s legendary classic, directed by National Theatre Deputy Artistic Director Robert Hastie who gave us Standing at the Sky’s Edge. And this is the first time it has been staged at the National since its groundbreaking premiere way back in 1992.

Paul Chuckle (TV's The Madam Blanc Mysteries) and Jill Halfpenny (TV's The Long Shadow) join Mills in the cast. We have Set and costume design by Janet Bird and Lighting design by Paul Pyant. The Sound designer is Mike Walker, the Composer and music director is David Shrubsole, and the Voice coach is Shereen Ibrahim. The Casting is by Alastair Coomer CDG.

Buy The Rise and Fall Of Little Voice tickets to experience the magic for yourself, a play that has been revived time and time again as well as being made into a hugely popular 1998 movie starring Jane Horrocks.
