Based on the beloved 2017 movie, The Greatest Showman Musical is going to be massive!
The Greatest Showman Musical is coming to Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End. As you can imagine, the anticipation is already mounting.
The story follows the real-life P.T. Barnum, who launched the travelling circus in 1871 that grew into the legendary Barnum & Bailey Circus. Songs from the film include "This Is Me" and "A Million Dreams", plus brand-new songs written especially for the musical by the US songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, famous for their work in musical theatre, movies, and TV. Their awards include Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, and Golden Globes, and they've collaborated on all sorts of popular films, including La La Land and The Greatest Showman itself.
There's a huge cast on board, including Samantha Barks (Frozen, Les Misérables) as Charity Barnum, Oliver Tompsett (& Juliet, Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman) as P.T. Barnum and Ben Joyce (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Back to the Future, Shucked) as Phillip Carlyle. Vajèn van den Bosch (Frozen, Wicked, Les Misérables) plays Jenny Lind. The list continues with Malinda Parris (The Little Big Things) as Lettie Lutz, and further casting is still to be announced.
A book by Emmy nominee Tim Federle (Ferdinand, High School Musical, Tuck Everlasting), direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (Disney's Hercules, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon), and Scenic Design by David Korins set the scene. Alex Lacamoire provides Music Supervision and Orchestrations, and we have Costume Design from Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, Vocal and Incidental Music Arrangements from Justin Paul, Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Sound Design by Peter Hylenski, Video design by George Reeve and Circus Creation and Design by Lorenzo Pisoni, with acrobat casting by The 7 Fingers. Josh Marquette's Hair and Wig Design, Milagros Medina-Cerdeira's Make Up Design, Jeremy Chernick's Special Effects Design, and Skylar Fox's Illusions complete the picture, along with casting by Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting. The production comes from Disney Theatrical Group, with The Seelig Group, a producer of the original film, also producing.
