After premiering in Bristol, The Greatest Showman Musical is making its way to London. As you can imagine, the anticipation is already mounting.
The story follows the real-life P.T. Barnum, who created the legendary Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1871, a show that's still going strong. Songs from the film include "This Is Me" and "A Million Dreams", plus five more fresh new tunes from the US songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, famous for their work in musical theatre, movies, and TV. Their awards include Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, and Golden Globes, and they've collaborated on all sorts of popular films, including La La Land and The Greatest Showman itself.
There's a huge cast on board, including Samantha Barks (Frozen, Les Misérables) as Charity Barnum, Oliver Tompsett (& Juliet, Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman) as P.T. Barnum, Ben Joyce (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Back to the Future, Shucked) as Phillip Carlyle, and Lorna Courtney (Heathers, & Juliet) as Anne Wheeler. Vajèn van den Bosch (Frozen, Wicked, Les Misérables) plays Jenny Lind. The list continues with Malinda Parris (The Little Big Things) as Lettie Lutz, plus a large ensemble and a huge creative team, hinting at just how spectacular this show is.
A book by Emmy nominee Tim Federle (Ferdinand, High School Musical, Tuck Everlasting), direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (Disney's Hercules, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon), and Scenic Design by David Korins set the scene.
