Is it a concert? Is it a performance? The brilliant Tao of Glass is both.

Tao of Glass creates a complex tapestry of sound and story. The soundtrack has been composed specially for the show by the world-class genius Philip Glass, whose music is always mesmerising. And it is performed by performer-director Phelim McDermott along with an impressive group of world-class musicians and puppeteers.

This beautiful collaboration, in the capital for its West End premiere, explores one of life's biggest questions, looking at living, loss, and the search for inspiration. The production features ten beautiful meditations on life, death and Taoist wisdom, each set to new music to create a unique storytelling experience. The intimate atmosphere of @sohoplace theatre is ideal for this magical piece of entertainment.

In town after a critically acclaimed world premiere at Manchester International Festival, the production was inspired by a dream. But this is so much more than a play. It taps into Taoist wisdom as well as marking decades of collaboration between the performer and composer, a partnership that gave us beautiful experiences like the Olivier and Grammy winner Akhnaten and the record breaker My Neighbour Totoro.

The show's Co-Director is Kirsty Housley. The Designer is Fly Davis, the Lighting Designer is Colin Grenfell, and the Sound Designer is Giles Thomas. Musical Direction by Chris Vatalaro and the awesome skills of the Puppet Designer and Puppet Maker Lyndie Wright add to the magic.
