Some Woman description
The brilliant Ann-Marie Duff rocks the lead role of Julie in Some Woman.
Julie Robson, an ordinary woman, is always being overlooked. Whether it's at home, at work or somewhere in between she feels more or less invisible. A shocking encounter on a railway station platform goes weird, and suddenly everyone's watching her. Then something profound inside her shifts and she can't resist making a stand. Now she's in the limelight, refusing to shut up, and she finds herself battling the way the world works.
BAFTA winner Anne-Marie Duff (Bad Sisters, Shameless, The Virgin Queen, Sex Education) plays Julie in Some Woman, a provocative and powerful new drama by Helen Edmundson, who delighted audiences with Small Island. It's directed by Blanche McIntyre (Tartuffe), with Set and Costume Design from Robert Jones, and it premieres at the National Theatre’s Dorfman Theatre.
Themes of identity, visibility, and what happens when we decide not to stay quiet any longer make this a play to remember, the perfect role to mark Anne-Marie Duff’s first time on stage at the National since her critically acclaimed role as Lady Macbeth back in 2018.
Some Woman tickets reveals an irresistible story about identity, our self-worth, and what it takes to stand up and be heard.
