Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas description
There's no better place to spend a festive evening than the beautifully restored Alexandra Palace Theatre, and this Christmas it plays host to a gloriously silly whodunnit: Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas. Part detective thriller, part pantomime, it's a seasonal treat packed with murder, mayhem and mince-pie merriment.
It's Christmas in Victorian London, and something is very wrong on the West End stage. One by one, performers are dropping dead mid-scene — and the deaths are anything but accidental. When the great detective is called in to investigate, he uncovers a chilling pattern hidden in plain sight: a killer working their way, methodically and murderously, through 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.'
With the body count rising and the clock ticking towards the twelfth day, Holmes and the ever-loyal Dr Watson must decode the carol's clues before the curtain falls for good. Expect red herrings, ridiculous disguises and a festive finale you won't see coming.
The show comes from the wickedly funny minds of David Reed and Humphrey Ker of comedy troupe The Penny Dreadfuls, who blend the traditional Holmes mystery with the anarchic spirit of a Christmas panto. The result is a critical hit: The Guardian calls it 'gleefully theatrical', while WhatsOnStage hails 'a madcap romp… [that] brilliantly blends elements of the traditional Holmes detective tale with the craziness of pantomime and general festive cheer.'
Suitable for ages 10 and up, it's the perfect alternative to the usual Christmas fare for families, friends and Sherlock fans alike. Book your tickets early and join the great detective for the most murderous carol of the season.
