The story? Samson leads the oppressed Israelites. He persuades his people to wage war on their oppressors, but his earth-shattering passion for Dalila ignites a deadly conflict. Dalila's lovely aria, Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix or softly awakes my heart, is sung by the seductress as she tries to make Samson give into temptation and sleep with her. Will Samson's extraordinary physical and spiritual strength survive the ultimate test, his betrayal by the woman he's obsessed with, his imprisonment, and the torments of his Philistine captors?

Stunningly lovely music by composer Camille Saint-Saëns joins a Libretto by Ferdinand Lemaire. Director Richard Jones, Set designer Hyemi Shin, Costume designer Nicky Gillibrand, Lighting designer Andreas Fuchs and Choreographer and Movement Director Lucy Burge make up the creative team.
