Rowan Live description
Rowan Live is a new stage show in which Rowan Atkinson performs a selection of his best-known comedy sketches and characters in front of a theatre audience.
The show takes Atkinson back to the theatre, where his career began. It gathers sketches and characters from across his work, from the chaotic Mr Bean to the irreverent Blackadder, together with favourites from Not the Nine O'Clock News. Alongside this familiar material, the evening includes new sketches created for the occasion with his long-standing collaborators Richard Curtis, Ben Elton and Howard Goodall. Physical comedy and precise timing, the two qualities his characters are known for, sit at the centre of the show.
Rowan Live is Atkinson's first comedy sketch show in the West End for forty years. He has explained that he wanted to perform again "the sketches that began it all" for himself and Richard Curtis, the pieces in which his best-known characters first appeared, along with "some surprise new material written especially for this show". Curtis, who first saw Atkinson perform on stage in 1976, says the show was put together in summer 2026 in front of a small audience and will feature "all his voices, shapes, faces and characters".
The production is directed by Raz Shaw, with music by Howard Goodall, a long-term collaborator of Atkinson's. It is presented by Playful Productions in association with PBJ Management, and plays a strictly limited season at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Drury Lane.
Rowan Atkinson first came to national prominence on the sketch series Not the Nine O'Clock News. He went on to co-create and star in the title roles of Blackadder and Mr Bean, and his other characters include Johnny English. These roles have been watched by audiences around the world and have secured his place in British comedy.
Book tickets for Rowan Live to see Rowan Atkinson bring his sketches and characters to the stage in person.
