Perspectives: Balanchine, Marston and Peck - Royal Ballet and Opera description

Three ballets, one evening, an inspiring experience. You'll love Perspectives: Balanchine, Marston and Peck.

Make your way to the Royal Opera House for something extra-special thanks to Perspectives: Balanchine, Marston and Peck. George Balanchine's Serenade, the world premiere of a new Benjamin Britten ballet by Cathy Marston, plus Justin Peck's Everywhere We Go make up a trio of magical ballets danced to beautiful perfection by The Royal Ballet. What a treat for the senses!

Serenade is by George Balanchine, a legend in the world of 20th-century ballet, loved for his lively, athletic American neoclassical works. This is his first ballet created in America, accompanied by Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and premiering in 1935. The choreography of Serenade includes the real-life mistakes made by his students. The Costume Designer is Karinska, and the Lighting Designer is John B. Read.

The brand new Cathy Marston world premiere is set to Benjamin Britten's turbulent Violin Concerto, which he wrote when Europe was just about to descend into the horrors of the Second World War. Her second production for the Company on the Main Stage, it follows on from 2020's The Cellist, an award-winner of a smash hit celebrating the extraordinary cellist Jacquline du Pré. The Set Designer is Chloe Lamford, the Costume Designer is Annemarie Woods, the Lighting Designer is Fabiana Piccioli and Dramaturgy comes from Edward Kemp.

Everywhere We Go is a wonderfully uplifting spectacle with a wide-ranging cinematic score by Sufjan Stevens. The show's sheer energy and dynamism is typical of the choreographer Justin Peck. First choreographed in 2014 for New York City Ballet, where he's the resident choreographer and artistic advisor, Everywhere We Go is his first work performed by The Royal Ballet. Arranged by Michael P Atkinson with Set Design from Karl Jensen, the Costume Designer is Janie Taylor and the Lighting Designer is Brandon Stirling Baker.

The Royal Ballet is dedicated to enriching lives through ballet. Perspectives: Balanchine, Marston and Peck tickets deliver a balletic experience to remember.
