Our Mighty Groove reveals the magical spirit of the dance floor, an exhilarating, high-energy award-winner of a spectacle. Expect a new staging described as 'electric', and prepare for something special. No wonder the show won the 2025 Best Dance Production award at the Black British Theatre Awards held at Piccadilly Theatre, celebrating the sheer artistry and passion behind this empowering, bold piece of dance theatre.
The story behind the production is inspired by Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu, who celebrates the joyous experiences she enjoyed at a New York nightclub. You'll be whisked away to Club Groove, a world where anything can happen, and Uchenna Dance sits at the heart of it all. They're a contemporary dance company founded in 2009 by Igbokwe, with a powerful focus on empowering, entertaining, and educating people through dance.
The plot brings a cast of fascinating nightclub characters to life, discovering community, connection and their true selves through the dance experience. Breathtaking elements of Waacking, Vogue and House music blend with traditional African and contemporary styles to deliver something unique.
This time around the hugely popular Uchenna classic has been remixed to bring even more energy to the stage, an unforgettable performance that's perfect for people of every age. A 30 minute after-party seals the deal, the ideal ending to a truly amazing production.
