Oslo description

Oslo is a multi-award-winning play by J. T. Rogers telling the part-factual, part imagined story of the true-life negotiations involved in the 1990s Oslo Peace Accords between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organisation. It originally premièred Off-Broadway in summer 2016 and proved so popular it soon transferred to Broadway.

In May 2017 Oslo snagged the desirable Lucille Lortel Award for Best Play. It won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Broadway Play, and brought home the 2017 Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Play. It won a couple of Obies and took the 2017 Tony for Best Play, plus the coveted 2017 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play and the 2016-2017 New York Drama Critics' Circle award for Best Play. Now that's what we call a legendary awards season!

What's all the fuss about? This is, quite simply, one of the most fascinating subjects imaginable. The idea was born when the playwright J. T. Rogers and the Norwegian diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen met, thanks to their mutual acquaintance the American theatre director Bartlett Sher. When Rogers discovered the story of the diplomat's little-known involvement in the 1990s peace negotiations, he was inspired to transform the story into a play and the rest, as they say, is history.

If you love nothing better than an intense evening's entertainment packed with politics, secrecy, tension and struggle, all set against a backdrop of uniquely dramatic world events that changed the political scene in the Middle East forever, this one's for you.
