Nerdy Prudes Must Die is Team StarKid's horror-comedy musical, playing a West End season at the Apollo Theatre.
At Hatchetfield High, a group of outcasts decide to get their own back on the school bully, Max Jägerman, by frightening him at an abandoned house. The plan goes wrong, Max dies, and the teenagers bury the body. He comes back as a vengeful ghost, working through the list of everyone he holds responsible, and the survivors have to find a way to stop him before the whole school is on it.
The show is the third instalment in Team StarKid's Hatchetfield series, after The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals and Black Friday, and the company's thirteenth staged production. It premiered in February 2023 at the El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles, and the cast album went to number one on Billboard's cast album chart. This is StarKid's second London season: the company played the same theatre with The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals in 2026. Age guidance is 14+.
The book is by Matt Lang and Nick Lang, with music and lyrics by Jeff Blim and direction by Nick Lang. Choreography is by Lauren Lopez, who also appears in the cast. The London production has lighting by Brandon Baruch, set by Lex Gernon-Wyatt, props by Eve Hawes, sound by Toby Chevis and musical direction by Matt Dahan.
The entire original company reprises its roles: Joey Richter as Peter Spankoffski, Angela Giarratana as Grace Chasity, Will Branner as Max Jägerman, Mariah Rose Faith Casillas as Steph Lauter, Lauren Lopez as Ruth Fleming, Jon Matteson as Richie Lipschitz, Bryce Charles as Detective Shapiro, Corey Dorris as Mayor Lauter, Curt Mega as Officer Bailey and Kim Whalen as Miss Mulberry.
