Jo: The Little Women Musical in Concert description
If you loved Louisa May Alcott's magical book, you'll adore Jo The Little Women Musical.
Jo The Little Women Musical reimagines Louisa May Alcott's beloved book, starring the passionate young writer, Jo March. This premiere - a semi-staged concert - is on at the West End's Theatre Royal Drury Lane for early 2026, exploring themes that matter just as much now as they did then: family, ambition, and identity. Fans of the novel and newcomers will be excited to know there's a contemporary twist to look forward to, bringing this classic story bang up to date.
The plot? After her sister Beth dies, wannabe writer Jo strives to become the voice of her generation. Her experiences highlight the universal battle we all have to claim our own voice and fulfil our own purpose, exploring Jo's love, loss, and sisterhood on the journey to realising her dreams.
The show had its first reading back in summer 2021 with Jenna Lea Rosen as Jo. The first tune came out in 2022, "Fly Away," featuring Rosen. In 2023, a selection of the show tunes were revealed in a series of US concerts. The entire score has been recorded as a concept album at Abbey Road Studios, with a 29 piece orchestra on board, and now it's finally here!
The cast includes Christine Allado as Jo March, Laura Benanti as Marmee March, Julian Ovenden as Father, and Kelly Mathieson as Professor Bhaer. The musical features music by Dan Redfeld, with book and lyrics from Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej. The show is directed by JoAnn M. Hunter.
Jo The Little Women Musical tickets deliver all the delights of the classic novel, set to gorgeous music with an inspiring modern edge.
