That’s what Instructions For Correct Assembly suggest at least.
Instructions For Correct Assembly marks the Royal Court debut play from playwright Thomas Eccleshare, straight into the larger space of the theatre that has championed playwrights from Simon Stephens to Jez Butterworth to Martin McDonagh. All three are Olivier Award-winning playwrights, the latter is also a Golden Globe and BAFTA winner for his latest screenplay Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Eccleshare has previously written work for Hightide Festival and Soho Theatre, as well as the critically acclaimed show Heather that went to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 and the Bush Theatre.
Director Hamish Pirie is one of the Royal Court’s Associate Directors – his latest work there includes Goats and Primetime 2017. Hamish also trained at Paines Plough, where currently Royal Court Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone previously worked, and at the Donmar Warehouse. Vicky was recently named as No. 1 on The Stage’s 2017 list of the most influential theatre makers and individuals. She catapulted herself forwarded after so vehemently speaking out in the wake of the sexual harassment scandal that has swept the industry. Her other recent work includes directing Our Ladies Of Perpetual Succour and programming The Ferryman.
