I'm Sorry, Prime Minister description

I'm Sorry, Prime Minister is back, starring Griff Rhys Jones and Clive Francis.

Following successful runs at The Barn Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath and Cambridge Arts Theatre, Jonathan Lynn’s new political comedy I’m Sorry, Prime Minister transfers to the West End for a strictly limited season. The stars of the show are comedian, writer, TV presenter and actor Griff Rhys Jones and Clive Francis (A Small Family Business, Bridgerton, The Crown, Troilus and Cressida, A Christmas Carol).

Rhys Jones was awarded the Olivier in 1984 for Best Comedy Performance in Charley's Aunt and the Best Comedy Performance Olivier for his work on An Absolute Turkey. He played Toad in The Wind in the Willows at the National Theatre and Fagin in Oliver!. The story comes from the BAFTA Award-winning co-creator of TV comedies Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, Jonathan Lynn, who also directs.

Billed as a final goodbye to two of the nation's best-loved comedy characters, the story of the former PM Jim Hacker and his old sparring partner, Sir Humphrey Appleby, continues. Set in the fictional Oxford University college named after Hacker, Jim is now older but not necessarily wiser. The ways of the world still baffle him. And the quiet retirement he feels he deserves isn't on the cards yet as he faces up to the modern world's equivalent of a terrible crisis: being cancelled.

Luckily, Sir Humphrey Appleby comes to the rescue. Will his old passion for complex bureaucracy, obscure Latin phrases and timely obstructions beat the meddling WOKE students and the college Fellowship? Will Hacker leave behind a legacy worth having or will this hilarious political farce prove a disaster?

Buy tickets for I’m Sorry, Prime Minister to deep-dive into a classic British comedy brought back to hilarious life for the 2020s. Expect scheming, wit, and a generous helping of top class political satire.
