Hyde Park Winter Wonderland description
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland turns part of Hyde Park into a festive site of rides, shows, ice skating and Christmas markets each winter.
First held in 2007 with a few funfair rides, an ice rink and a big wheel, the event has grown into one of London's best-known Christmas outings. Visitors book a timed entry slot and can then stay as long as they like, moving between themed areas including Santa Land, the Bavarian Village, Thrillville, Skater's Corner, Show Town, Market Square, Arctic Circle and Luminarie Lane.
The main attractions are booked separately. The Ice Rink is laid out around the park's Victorian bandstand, the Magical Ice Kingdom presents Neverland this season, and Gandeys K-Pop Dragon Circus performs at set times through the day. The Giant Wheel, part of the event since its first year, stands 70 metres tall. The Bavarian Village is home to The Great Hall, an Oktoberfest-style beer hall with live music.
The event is produced by PWR Events in Hyde Park, one of London's Royal Parks, and attending helps support the conservation and upkeep of the park. Alongside the headline attractions there are rides for younger children, thrill rides such as Munich Looping and the Euro Coaster, ice-sculpting workshops for ages 12 and over, and food and drink across the site.
There are four entrance gates, and the nearest Underground stations are Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Knightsbridge. Everyone needs an entry ticket, children included, and the site opens daily through the festive season except Christmas Day.
Book your entry to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland for a day or an evening of rides, shows and lights in the heart of London.
