Hit Machine description
Two brothers are engaged in one fierce, violent emotional battle - you'll love Hit Machine.
Hit Machine, written by Jonathan Caren and directed by Daniel Bailey, explores the fierce, emotionally charged collision between two estranged brothers whose reunion turns into an explosive battle about their family, the memories they hold dear, and who gets to control the narrative of heir shared past. The same difficult childhood unites them, but they're divided by success. When they find themselves embroiled in a final, desperate collaboration they decide the only way the real truth is going to come out is in a hit song.
Accompanied by stunning original music by the three-Grammy winner Ben Harper, this explosive play explores themes of brotherhood, male violence, creative theft and what it costs a person to transform pain into a work of art. A finalist in the coveted Eugene O'Neill 2025 National Playwrights Conference for developing new plays, it was chosen for IAMA's New Works Fest as well as The Working Theater's first ever Stage Left Festival. As you can tell, all the signs point to a top quality piece of theatre.
Cast members Josh Radnor and Noah Galvin play the brothers, both on their London stage debuts. Radnor is a film maker, actor, and musician whose nine season run in the Emmy-winning How I Met Your Mother Made him a star. He's the writer and director of two movies that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, one winning the coveted 2010 Audience Award. Galvin is an actor, singer, writer, and producer whose musical comedy film, Theater Camp, which he starred in, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and won the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble. He also starred as Evan in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, as well as playing Ogie in Waitress. The show is produced by Juliet Berman for Spiral Stairs, Bryan McCaffrey of BPM Theatrical, and Kater Gordon.
Hit Machine tickets immerse you in a fiery relationship where two brothers fight for their emotional lives, along with truly gorgeous music. Unusual, compelling, unforgettable.
