HEART WALL description
New at Bush Theatre's Holloway space, this is Heart Wall by Kit Withington.
We all do it. We hide the parts of ourselves we're not proud of. Kit Withington's powerful new play takes to the stage to explore Franky's world, a place haunted by grief.
Franky's family is quietly falling to bits. Her dad's in hiding and dark secrets are starting to leak out. On a Friday night, for the first time in years, she's in her local pub, and it's like going back in time. The same pints, the same jukebox favourites, the same karaoke. A tender, bittersweet story unfolds as Heart Wall questions where we go when the walls start closing in and home just doesn't feel like home any more.
Bush Writers’ Group alum Kit Withington (As We Face The Sun) was a member of the Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab in 2018. Her play Scrap was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award. She wrote Our Moon Under Water in 2021 for Edition 6 of the Royal Court’s LIVING NEWSPAPER, and in 2023, As We Face The Sun was produced by The Bush's 18-25s young company. 2025 saw Kit's first radio drama Nearly Light 'Highly Commended' for Best Single Original Drama at the BBC's Audio Awards.
The play is directed by Bush Theatre Associate Director Katie Greenall. Hazel Low is the Set and Costume Designer, Jatinder Chera is Casting Director, Chloe Stally-Gibson is the Production Manager and Chloe Wilson is the Company Stage Manager on book.
Come give your emotions a work-out with Heart Wall tickets, a tender exploration of grief's long journey and how fickle memories can be.
