Grace Pervades description

Love seeing big-name actors on the West End stage? Grace Pervades is a star-studded affair.

Playwright, screenwriter, and director David Hare's new play Grace Pervades stars Ralph Fiennes and Miranda Raison, in London following a 2025 world premiere at Theatre Royal Bath. A well-deserved transfer to the West End's Theatre Royal Haymarket, it's a treat for everyone who loves a powerful period drama based on a true story.

Ralph Fiennes (Conclave, Harry Potter, James Bond, Macbeth) plays Henry Irving, and Miranda Raison (TV's Spooks, movies Widow's Walk and Breathe, theatre shows Anne Boleyn, The Winter's Tale) plays Ellen Terry.

Ellen Terry was a famous Victorian beauty, child prodigy, and genius actor. Henry Irvine was a respected British Actor-Manager. They worked together for more than a quarter of a century, through thick and thin. Ellen may have been the era's biggest celebrity, loved across the UK and North America, but her artistic life was far from smooth-running. Her troubled but brilliant children, Edith and Edward Gordon Craig, who also faced artistic struggles, went on to make their own impressive contribution to British theatre. This is their story.

Directed by Jeremy Herrin (Long Day's Journey Into Night), the set designer is Bob Crowley and the costume designer is Fotini Dimou. The lighting designer is Peter Mumford, the sound designer is Elizabeth Purnell and the composer is Paul Englishby. Casting director Jessica Ronane CDG joins associate director Joe Lichtenstein and movement director Lucy Cullingford to complete the creative team. Produced by Theatre Royal Bath Productions, Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen for Access Entertainment, the play is a co-production with Herrin's company Second Half Productions.

A strictly limited run, a fascinating look at life in the vibrant Victorian theatre scene, plus amazing actors mean Grace Pervades tickets are set to sell like hot cakes.
