Global Majority description

A play described as 'Black Mirror meets Succession', Global Majority is powerful stuff.

Global Majority comes from award-winner Chris Fung, directed by Rupert Hands in a co production with Bush Theatre, Fun Guy Theatre and Gabriella Sills Productions. It's part of the venue's 2026-27 season of eight plays across two stages, the Bush's first season under Artistic Director Taio Lawson

Meet Brian Tran, who is at a job interview like no other. If he succeeds he'll become the most powerful leader in the world. But as the interview becomes increasingly brutal, a masterclass in psychological, moral and emotional torment, Brian finds himself questioning how much of himself he can bear to sacrifice in the pursuit of power.

The action unfolds against a backdrop of high stakes politics, dystopian tech, elite institutions, manipulation and impossible moral choices, but there's a lot more to it than a thrilling plot. It explores bigger questions around who gets to be powerful, the compromises we make to succeed, whether we can change the system from the inside, and what happens when your identity becomes political currency.

The play's name refers to the fact that people of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Indigenous heritage are not the minority. Together they make up most of the world's population. It follows on from Chris Fung's first major Bush Theatre production, the acclaimed The Society for New Cuisine. And it promises a captivating mix of fast-paced thriller, psychodrama, speculative fiction, political satire and cinematic storytelling.
