It’s great to see the legendary Argentine theatre company Fuerza Bruta back in the capital after a decade, thrilling audiences once more at the Roundhouse in Camden. Prepare for a joyous 360 degree spectacle that’s being described as ‘breathtaking’.
Fuerza Bruta presents their new show AVEN, billed as ‘a rollercoaster ride of euphoria, optimism and desire beyond the imagination’. It’s been selling out in Buenos Aires throughout 2023, now their unique club-theatre experience is returning to London to thrill audiences all over again with its legendary dance, music and movement.
Fuerza Bruta was born in 2003 when the creative director Diqui James, composer Gaby Kerpel, technical director Alejandro García and general co-ordinator Fabio D´aquila, all ex-members of the theatre company De La Guarda, formed a new company.
In 2005 their first show, Look Up, premiered in Buenos Aires. A year later it hit the newly refurbished Roundhouse and proved a smash. It opened Off-Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theater in 2007 and stayed there until the end of summer 2016. Since then the company has travelled the world, appealing to people of every kind in every country.
The background to AVEN
AVEN has been created by Fuerza Bruta Artistic Director Diqui James, with music and musical direction by Gaby Kerpel. The team has spent a long time dreaming up and crafting this show, which started life pre-covid. After the pandemic, when they returned to rehearsals, they decided the world was quite dark enough, removing every hint of darkness and strife. The result is their happiest ever show.
The creators spent five years pouring their joy and passion into AVEN, now they’re back in town to release it all at the Roundhouse, giving audiences a warm emotional embrace. The CEO and Artistic Director of the Roundhouse, Marcus Davey, is also delighted to have this ‘truly breathtaking new show’ at the venue, its beloved London home.
