Fourteen Again description
Fourteen Again is a new musical built from the songs of Victoria Wood, receiving its London premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
Peggy is recently divorced and adrift when she runs into Lou, her best friend from school, at a local slimming club. The reunion stirs up memories of their teenage years, and Peggy wakes the next morning to find herself fourteen years old again. Given a second look at her own history, she has to work out which of her mistakes are worth correcting and which made her who she is.
This is a new work rather than a revival. Tom MacRae has written an original book around Wood's songs, and the show takes its title from one of her best-known numbers. It had its world premiere in spring 2026 at the Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere, the venue renamed in her honour, where it drew strong notices. Musical Theatre Review gave it five stars and called it "a divinely entertaining and heartwarming show".
The book is by Tom MacRae, who wrote the book and co-wrote the lyrics for Everybody's Talking About Jamie, with music and lyrics by Victoria Wood. Jonathan O'Boyle directs, with musical supervision, arrangements and co-orchestrations by Nigel Lilley and choreography by Sammy Murray. The design team is Roger Glossop (set), Caroline Hughes (costume), Jason Taylor (lighting) and Sam Glossop (sound), with Archie McMorran as musical director and co-orchestrator.
Ria Jones and Sally Ann Triplett reprise the roles they created at the world premiere, Jones as Lou and Triplett as Peggy. Both worked with Victoria Wood: Triplett originated the role of Miss Berta in the West End production of Acorn Antiques: The Musical!, and Jones appeared in Wood's The Angina Monologues. Jones has also played Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in the West End.
Victoria Wood's songs, a story about friendship and second chances, and the two performers who created the roles: book tickets for Fourteen Again at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
