Flamenc-Oh! description
Flamenc-Oh! is an irreverent flamenco comedy from the Spanish theatre company Yllana.
The show follows a family of flamenco artists ruled by a strict patriarch, in a household where custom and tradition are law. The arrival of a new guitarist, bringing fresh musical influences from outside the tradition, upsets the family's rigid order and sets off a chain of comic situations. What unfolds is a story of love, passion and revenge, told with the fast-paced physical humour for which Yllana are known.
This is a brand-new production, co-commissioned by Yllana and Sadler's Wells. It combines authentic flamenco - cante, guitar and dance performed live - with broad physical comedy, offering itself as a tribute to the art form rather than a parody of it. Yllana build their shows around visual, gestural humour, which makes the production accessible to audiences with or without prior knowledge of flamenco. The company are also known internationally for The Opera Locos.
The production is created by Yllana, with choreography by Carlos Chamorro and musical direction by Juan Cañas, Michael McMuffin and Daniel Rovalher.
The company features flamenco performers David Bastidas, Raquela Ortega, Raúl Ortega, Anabel Moreno and Luis Gallo.
Book now to see world-class flamenco given a wild comic twist in this new production from Yllana.
