Dracula description
It's Dracula, but not as you know it... starring the brilliant Cynthia Erivo.
Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Award-winning actor Cynthia Erivo (Wicked, Harriet, Genius: Aretha, The Colour Purple) is the star of this dazzling production, a genre defying one-woman show that blows the classic story, Bram Stoker's Dracula, right out of the water. You'll watch, amazed, as the ancient vampire Dracula wreaks madness and horror on the capital city, a story told via a magical mix of pre-recorded film, live video and theatre.
The most magical thing of all? Cynthia Erivo plays all 23 roles herself, a feat that'll blow your mind. It's all down to the amazing Tony Award-winning Kip Williams from the Sydney Theatre Company, whose unique style of cine-theatre never fails to delight and intrigue. The result is both immersive and electrifying, so hang onto your hats!
Bram Stoker's Dracula is the original and best, a horror story that has spawned a thousand more. It tells the tale of the English solicitor Jonathan Harker, who travels to Transylvania to meet the mysterious Count Dracula, who is hell bent on going to London to find new blood. In what has been described as a seductive, intoxicating adaptation, Erivo portrays everyone from the victim Lucy to the determined vampire hunter Van Helsing and the Count himself in a unique re-telling of the spine-tingling gothic masterpiece.
The creative team includes Designer Marg Horwell, Lighting Designer Nick Schlieper, Composer Clemence Williams, Sound Designer Jessica Dunn, Video Designer Craig Wilkinson and Dramaturg Zahra Newman.
Prepare to be ensnared, entranced and entertained with Dracula tickets, a new take on a gothic horror story that, like Dracula himself or herself, never grows old.
