Make your way to London's glittering Charing Cross Theatre for a fresh new musical theatre production based on a play written back in 1941 by Howard D Richardson and William Berney. A book by the Emmy Award nominee Jonathan Prince (American Dreams) plus gorgeous country, bluegrass and rock music from Grammy-winning songwriters Lindy Robbins, Dave Bassett and Steve Robson make it even more special, a unique West End treat you'll love.

Exploring powerful themes of witchcraft, warlocks, prejudice and forbidden love spanning two completely different worlds, the action takes place in a small town. The story is inspired by the eastern USA's Appalachian region, a place rich in folklore where a supernatural tale unfolds against the Smoky Mountains to reveal the magical power of love. No wonder it has been described as timeless and spellbinding.

A beautiful musical score accompanies the human female character Barbara Allen and John, the strange witch-boy she falls in love with. Can they defy their communities' prejudice and live happily ever after? Or will the deal made by the dark of the moon haunt their future?

The drama is directed by Georgie Rankcom (The Frogs), with choreographer Jane McMurtrie, musical supervisor Brad Haak, musical director Matt Herbert, orchestrator Dillon Kondor, and casting director Peter Noden on the team. Production design from Libby Todd, lighting design from Jonathan Chan, and sound design by Andrew Johnson complete the creatives, and the Producers are WitzEnd Productions LLC and Steven M Levy for Charing Cross Theatre Productions.
