Burlesque the Musical description

Burlesque The Musical - Glittery, glimmering and glorious!

You adored the movie. Now it’s on stage and this brand-new production has already clocked up a legendary sell-out season in Manchester. Taking off to Glasgow and then returning to Manchester before its West Ed transfer, Burlesque The Musical is already a star in theatreland’s glittery sky.

What's the story behind Burlesque The Musical?

We’ll leave it to the brilliant Christina Aguilera, star of the movie and the musical’s Executive Producer, to tell you what’s what. In her words, “Burlesque was my first feature film — and creating the role of Ali along with co-writing the music was a part of my career that I will always cherish. I am so happy to be reunited with Steven, this time behind-the-scenes as an Executive Producer and contributing songwriter for our new stage version. Recreating Burlesque as a live theatre experience is something I always hoped would happen, and here we are!”

The musical stars X Factor and Voice Kids UK winner Jess Folley as Ali, played by Christina Aguilera in the movie. Olivier Award-winner George Maguire (Death Note, Sunny Afternoon, Bonnie & Clyde) plays Vince. Billie-Kay (Anything Goes) plays Sophia and B Terry (Cabaret) is Georgie.

The TikTok star and actor Jess Qualter plays Daphne and Yasmin Harrison (The Bodyguard) is Brenda/Dance Captain. Lily Wang (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) plays Fifi, Hollie-Ann Lowe (Dirty Dancing) is Summer, and Alessia McDermott (Back to the Future) is a member of the Ensemble. The role of Tess Scali, played by Cher in the film, will be announced shortly along with the rest of the cast.
