What's all the fuss about? 42nd Street is an American musical with a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin, and music by Harry Warren. The original 1980 Broadway production was produced by David Merrick, won a coveted Tony Award for Best Musical and turned into an impressively-long running smash. The 1984 London show won the Olivier that year for Best Musical, and the 2001 Broadway revival did it again, snagging the Tony for Best Revival. The signs are all good and the West End is anticipating an equally big splash this time around.

The plot is inspired by Bradford Ropes' popular novel and the 1933 Hollywood film adaptation, a real extravaganza. It explores the famously bossy Great White Way director Julian Marsh's efforts to produce a glittering musical bang in the middle of the Great Depression, an economic crisis so acute it more or less wrecked the USA for many years. This latest revival is being hailed as Broadway's biggest show on the West End's biggest stage. So what can you expect from a musical that has consistently won hearts and minds for decades?

With a cast of more than fifty singers and dancers, costumes to die for and a host of well known and loved show tunes, it's explosive stuff. You'll sing along to We’re In The Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Dames, I Only Have Eyes For You... and, of course, the glorious 42nd Street itself. The original Broadway production took the honour of being the 14th longest running show in Broadway history in September 2015. Will this revival prove just as big a hit?

Meet young Peggy Sawyer, who has just got off the bus from her small home town to take up a low-key role in the chorus line on Broadway’s latest show. She's happy enough to be there, albeit in the background, until fate takes a turn. The leading lady suffers an injury, and Peggy might just snag the leading role for herself.

How will Peggy Sawyer fare in the show, Pretty Lady? You'll meet compelling characters like the ageing stage star Dorothy Brock, her rich boyfriend Abner Dillon, the writer Maggie, the chorus girls Anytime Annie, Phyllis, and Lorraine, and more.

Prepare yourself for a delicious, delightful singing and dancing spectacular and you won't be disappointed. Add a satisfyingly knotty plot complete with various unsavoury acquaintances and the result is a highly entertaining and fun night out you won' forget in a hurry.
