The Snowman always makes Christmas special, a festive favourite for everyone.

Writer and illustrator Raymond Briggs delighted generations with his gorgeous books, loved by adults as much as children. This winter The Snowman is back in the capital, a magical family favourite presented by Sadler's Wells, starring a little boy and his beloved snowman friend. Back for the 28th year, this legendary classic blends lovely storytelling with music from a live orchestra, fabulous dance and imaginative sets to bring the whole spectacle to life. You'll be Walking in the Air!

You'll meet James, who makes a huge snowman in his garden in rural East Sussex. His chilly friend comes alive during the night, taking the boy on a fantastic journey flying across snowy landscapes to meet Father Christmas, having all sorts of adventures along the way.

A winter wonderland adventure awaits you in this stunning production created by the late John Coates. The animated Christmas version we all love so much was the winner of the Best Animated Short Film award at the 1983 Academy Awards and also won a BAFTA TV Award, ranking 71st in the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes. The original 1978 book has sold more than 5.5 million copies in 15 different languages so far, one of the best-selling picture books ever. And everyone tunes in for the annual Channel 4 showing of the beloved animation at Christmas.

Sadler's Wells has presented the show annually at the Peacock Theatre since 1997. The Director is Bill Alexander, with music and lyrics by Howard Blake, lighting from Tim Mitchell, design by Ruari Murchison and choreography by Robert North.
