Guys and Dolls description

Make your way to the Bridge Theatre for this powerfully immersive production of Guys and Dolls from Nicholas Hytner. It has attracted rave reviews every step of the way, featuring vibrant, dynamic choreography brought to life by an all-star cast.

This well-loved classic musical has delighted audiences since the mid-1900s, appealing to theatregoers of every age. The plot, whose original 1950 Broadway premiere ran for 1200 performances and won the Tony for Best Musical, is inspired by two short stories by the US journalist and short story writer Damon Runyon, The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown and Blood Pressure.

The stalls seating at the venue has been taken out so the audience can stand around a series of moving platforms as the action unfolds, creating a fully immersive in-the-round experience that heightens the excitement and intimacy.

You’ll meet the smooth Sky Masterson, innocent Miss Adelaide, wicked Nathan Detroit and the straight-talking, gambling hating Sarah Brown, all portrayed by a cast and creative team described as ‘West End royalty’.

Your chance to see ‘West End royalty’ on stage

The cast includes Owain Arthur (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) as Nathan Detroit, George Ioannides (An Officer and a Gentleman) as Sky Masterson, Celinde Schoenmaker (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera) as Sarah Brown, Timmika Ramsay (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Adult Material) as Miss Adelaide and Jonathan Andrew Hume (Come From Away, The Lion King) as Nicely-Nicely Johnson.

Welsh actor Owain Arthur sealed his reputation as Francis Henshall in The National Theatre's production of One Man, Two Guvnors at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. George Ioannides has wowed us with roles in Mamma Mia at the Novello Theatre and Annie at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Dutch actor and singer Celinde Schoenmaker thrilled audiences as Renate Blauel in Rocketman, Fantine in Les Misérables, and Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera. Timmika Ramsay worked on Cinderella at the Lyric Hammersmith, on the UK tour of Madagascar, and also has strong TV credentials with roles in Horrible Histories and the popular comedy series Ghosts.

Jonathan Andrew Hume has appeared in Mary Poppins Returns, 10,000 BC, and Amazing Grace, probably best known for his work as Simba, the lead character in The Lion King. All this magic is woven together by Sir Nicholas Robert Hytner, theatre director, film director, and film producer and one-time Artistic Director of London's National Theatre, whose theatre credits include Miss Saigon, The History Boys and One Man, Two Guvnors.

A legendary creative team

The creative team comprises the legendary choreographer Arlene Phillips, along with James Cousins. The Musical Supervisor and Arranger is Tom Brady, the Set Designer is Bunny Christie, Costume Designer Deborah Andrews, Lighting Designer Paule Constable, Sound Designer Paul Arditti, and the Orchestrator is Charlie Rosen.
